Yes, although the fees can add up, it is totally worth it because we would not be here if it was not for Kickstarter platform and the value it brings to our small business. We are so blessed to have the support from YOU the backer community, the Kickstarter platform, and the talented Kickstarter staff. 🤗
What Next? 🤔
After we receive the funds to our bank in just a few more days, majority of it will go to our manufacturing partners; for the product itself, any engineering costs if still owed, CNC machining and/or tooling costs, and inbound & outbound shipping costs, etc.
Fun Fact: Running a project from start to finish is a lot of work (and can be fun as well!) but from our experience, project creators seldom make enough to pay themselves from the campaign funds alone. So the question then becomes then why do it? Well, because we are passionate about creating products, we love what we do and we know that if we continue to deliver exceptional products it will pay off in the long run through other sales channels (e.g. our online store, Amazon, Etsy, BackerKit, etc.) 🙏 With that said, our BackerKit Survey and Pre-Order Store setup is almost complete and we hope to have everyone's support on there once it is ready.
BackerKit Surveys 📝
In just a few days we will be sending out invitations to our BackerKit Survey and Pre-Order Store. We will also post instructions on how to retrieve your BackerKit link in a future backer update. On BackerKit you will be able to confirm your pledge reward, purchase optional ADD-ONS (this helps us a lot!), and give us your shipping address so we know where to send your reward.
We will be posting another backer update with the link to the survey and also instructions on how to use BackerKit as well as an updated estimated delivery timeline.

ION campaign funding complete! What's next?

Our ION campaign closed with 1,949 backers and $126,833in pledges! 🤗 We're excited to deliver a premium pocket flashlight to the Kickstarter community.
WHAT'S NEXT? 🤔
Kickstarter is going to need two weeks to collect pledges. Once all the funds are collected they will release it to us. We will then be able to pay our manufacturing partners the remaining balances due for ION and accessories. During the two week collection phase, we will be working on our BackerKit Survey & Pre-Order store where you will be able to confirm your pledge reward, purchase add-ons (e.g. KLIPs, additional flashlights, and other Dapper Design products) to ship together with your reward. You will also provide us your shipping address so we know where to send your package.
We will be sending out invitations as well as a Backer Update with instructions on how to use BackerKit in about 3 weeks.

Hey Backers,
We are in the final stretch with just 6 days remaining! At the time of this backer update 1,793 backers have pledged $116,055! Let's take a closer look at the numbers...
The Numbers
So far backers have pledged on 909 black aluminum and 1,461 titanium flashlights! This is really awesome because when we launched the campaign we set a mental goal of hitting just 1,000 of each flashlight (or close to it) and we've surpassed it in the titanium and coming real close for aluminum! We think there is still enough time to reach 2000+ backers! Can we do it? Looking forward to the next 6 days. THANK YOU!!! 🙏
Operating ION while charging 🔋
We received a question earlier this week whether or not ION can be turned on (operated) while being recharged by USB-C and the answer is, YES! So in the event that your battery runs out, you can still use it if it is plugged into a power source such as a powerbank!
USB-C Charging Cables 🔌
We noticed that some backers were asking if USB-C to USB-C cables will work with ION. The answer to this is, no. You will want to use either our provided cable or another reputable brand USB-A to USB-C cable. We have tested a cable that came with one of our RGB LED lights (e.g. BOLING Pixel G1s RGB Video Light) and it worked fine. Just got to be sure that it has a USB-A on one end and the other end is USB-C. Our provided cable is not proprietary so you can feel confident using other trusted brand cables that look exactly the same.

USB-A to USB-C clarification

Hi Backers,
We wanted to give a quick backer update to apologize for any confusion we may have caused you in our last backer update. We wanted to share a photo of the USB-A to USB-C charging cable that is included with each ION flashlight.
INCLUDED & COMPATIBLE ✔️
All cables that look like this can be used to recharge ION
We wanted to let you know that if you have extra cables lying around (that looks like the one pictured above), you may safely use it to recharge ION. You should notice that the USB-A connector above is the most commonly used connector today; every computer, laptop, power bank, and USB power adapter has at least one of these ports which means you can plug the cable into your computer to recharge ION if you wanted to.
NOT COMPATIBLE ❌
The cable that we were trying to explain not to use with ION is a USB-C to USB-C cable as shown here:
These types of cables are not compatible with ION
Most devices that come with their own "USB-C to USB-C" cable comes with their own power adapter and protocol that might give off more power than is safe to recharge ION with; ION does not have the protocol to identify this cable as being compatible nor can it regulate the power that might be going through it. We wanted to play it safe and simply did not want backers to assume that USB-C cables and protocols are all the same.
We apologize for the confusion, this was our fault for not explaining it sooner. 🙏
CONCLUSION
It is always best practice to use the cable that comes with your product. This goes for all products and not just ours. We find that it is better to play it safe.

Week 2 down! + Prototype integrating sphere video

Hey Backers,
We have just wrapped up Week #2! We have reached 1,419 backers with $91,311 raised in just two weeks making this project currently our most raised Dapper Design project so far! Thank you! 🙏
The Numbers
In the previous backer update we mentioned that at the time of that update, backers have made a pledge for 778 titanium and 516 black aluminum flashlights. We are now at 1,140titanium and 723 black aluminum! 🔥 We are excited to see what the final two weeks can bring!
Prototype Testing
Check out this short video of our manufacturing partner assembling and testing a prototype ION flashlight in an integrating sphere. An integrating sphere is essentially an advanced dome with sensors that are calibrated and then used for testing flashlights. This is where we get all of our total light output, color temperature, lumen specs, etc.
With that said, thank you so much again for pledging and supporting ION! We will be back with a new backer update when news develop.
